Employment History

Currently employed as a Student Mentor at The Hive Library in Worcester. MAY 2013-present.

My role is to engage with young people by building relationships with individuals. I have experienced many challenges such as trying to engage with troubled young persons and to run my own events such as art and crafts workshops, which involved me having to create lesson plans, buy materials on a budget, create sample work and hand-outs and then present it to a group of young people. I also assisted with the Teenage book club.

Endsleigh Insurance sales representative throughout the ‘Fresher’s’ period at Worcester University from 30th August – 16th September 2013.

My role included engaging with the thousands of students at moving in weekend to discuss their insurance and encourage them to take out new policies. I had to reach goals of units sold during this high pace time that ventured into the Fresher’s fair, handle money and remain professional.

Christmas staff from September 2011 until the end of January 2012 at Next.

My responsibilities included serving at the till, organising displays, finding products in a stock room and giving great customer service.

Christmas staff from 13th November 2010 until 30th April 2011 at Argos.

My responsibilities ranged from serving at the till point, selling product care and store cards to working in the stock room.

Avon Cosmetics from March 2010 until August 2011 as a representative.

My job included selling products, taking and inputting orders, collecting delivery of orders, dealing with money, paperwork, invoices and returns.

Volunteering:

I am currently volunteering as a music and art support worker for Headway Trust Worcester, where I run activities for service users at the day opportunities centre. Headway is charity that works to improve life after brain injury; to provide friendship and support to families, a day opportunities service for adults with acquired brain damage and to educate on the nature and effect of head injury. (November 2013-present)

I am currently volunteering in a Computer Mentoring U3A workshop, running from September 2013-May 2014, helping older people use computers for the first time. This is a rewarding experience, to engage with individuals of an older age, where I have to remain patient and convey complicated information in simple ways.

I volunteered at the University of Worcester where in September 2013 I helped new students around the campus and helped them to get settled into life away from home.

Notable achievements

I will be achieving the Worcester Award in November 2014, which is a scheme that recognises a range of activities and experiences such as work experience, volunteering, helping the community and bettering myself.

I will be awarded the ‘Excellence in Volunteering’ award in May 2014 for achieving 100 hours volunteering whilst in my final year of study at University.

I was involved in the St Margaret Ward Jazz orchestra where in July 2011 we toured Lake Garda, Italy.

Work Experience

I gained experience at St Margaret Ward Catholic School and Arts College in November 2013, assisting in the Art Department. I mentored students wanting to go into further education and helped assist in lessons.

Packmoor Primary School July 2008 to get a taster at teaching being a possible career choice.
